Labor and delivery is the most challenging physical event a woman can experience. I feel that every expecting mother deserves to feel as prepared as possible for their pregnancy, labor and delivery, and early postpartum journey. 

With busy work schedules, frequent prenatal doctors appointments, and possibly other children to care for, it can be incredibly challenging for expecting moms to make time for pelvic floor therapy. This course covers important topics I teach all of my prenatal patients, but can be done from anywhere, at your own pace, reviewed at any time, and shared with partners.

After completing this course, you will:

• Understand your core and pelvic floor, and the changes that happen during pregnancy and early postpartum days so that you can feel prepared for labor, delivery, and recovery

• Learn about your options during labor and delivery so that you can feel confident having conversations with your care team about your goals and preferences

• Have tools so you can feel prepared for challenges that may occur during labor, delivery, and early postpartum recovery

Course Outline:

• Module 1: Labor Education
  • What is the core and pelvic floor (and how do they work together), who you may want to have on your care team, determining your birth plan/preferences, environmental considerations and relaxation aids
    
    
• Module 2: Considerations for Vaginal Deliveries and VBACs
  • The biomechanics of birth, perineal massage techniques, labor and delivery positions, and pushing techniques 

• Module 3: Considerations for Cesarean Births
  • General information about c-section, preferences to discuss with your provider, and c-section scar care
     
• Module 4: Early postpartum recovery
  • Perineal care, c-section scar care, abdominal and pelvic floor support, and ergonomics for early postpartum days
